Abstract

29,790. Robertson, W. F. Dec. 27. Cooling liquids.-Beer &c. is cooled by passage through an inverted glass U-tube b inserted in an ice-chamber d arranged in sight of the customers. The chamber d consists of a glass cylinder supported by a base-member d<1> and closed at its upper end by a cap d<2>. A second tube e provided with a cover d<3> and a drawing- off tap e' is fitted in the chamber d to enable the contents of a bottle of beer to be cooled. A tap is also provided in the base-member d' for draining off the water from the melted ice. A spiral U-tube may be used, or the tube may be of such a section as to expose a maximum surface to the cooling-agent. The Provisional Specification also states that the cooling-tube may be connected to the delivery pipe by flexible connexions so that it falls as the ice melts, and also that an enlargement may be provided in the middle of the tube to increase the cooling surface and form a sediment-collecting chamber.
