Abstract
29,616. Kent, F. W. Dec. 23. Plates, films, and papers; printing - paper; composite photographs; kinematograph picture films.-Relates to the treatment of photographic images by production on a sensitized basis of paper or the like previously fully saturated with wax followed by transfer to a somewhat adhesive stratum of resinoid or like or equivalent substance. The waxed basis may be polished or burnished by friction. Two sheets of waxed paper may be used back to back and coated on both sides to prevent curling. Vogel's sensitive emulsion, as described in Specification 2162/80, may be used. For other sensitive media the insensitive basis of Vogel's emulsion may be used as a substratum, or other substrata containing pyroxylin, gelatin, and acetic acid. The receiving support for the image is treated with a resinous or resinoid cement or a solution of india-rubber in benzol, or both the receiving surface and the image may be coated. The separation of the temporary wax support may be facilitated by heat or a solvent which softens the wax, such as benzol. A harder resinous or resinoid body such as damar may be used on one surface and may be mixed with the rubber cement. The finished print may be protected with coating of viscose, albumen, boracic lac varnish, india-rubber, or celluloid. In order to superimpose accurately successive prints, and more especially colour prints, pins may be used in the camera, and the negative supports perforated to engage these pins. The transfer supports and the final receiving support may also be punched to correspond with the camera registration pins. Alternatively and where it is not convenient to perforate the receiving support, the perforations may be used as a visible registration for successive transfers after the first. In the case of glass negatives, each negative may be margined with perforatable material. In the case of kinematograph films, registration is effected by the sprocket holes.
