Abstract
23,031. Woollard, F. G., and Wrigley & Co., E. G. Oct. 9. Controlling variable-speed gearing.-Relates to controlling-means for variable-speed gearing for motor-vehicles, of the kind in which a lever such as k is movable about perpendicular axes indicated by a pair of pins n and a shaft i, to select and operate singly a number of gearoperating members c, d, e. The members c, d, e are mounted and adapted to slide upon a single supporting-bar a; they are also adapted to be engaged singly by an arm j extending from the shaft i, which is turned and slid by the lever k. The members not engaged at any time are locked by a pivoted forked member o. The bar a has notches for engaging spring detents f, Fig. 1, upon these members.
