Abstract

21,844. MarliÞre, H. Sept. 25, 1911, [Convention date]. [Addition to 22,135/11.] Door-chains; padlocks.-In a safety-chain of the kind described in the parent Specification, in which the chain is provided with a padlock so that it can be manipulated from the outside of the door or window, the padlock is secured at or near one end of the chain instead of in the middle, to render it easily accessible when the fastening is applied to a door &c. having a single leaf. The plate d with which the stud c on one end of the chain engages is provided with two alined slots e, for adjustability. A padlock of any suitable type, having either a pivoted or a sliding shackle, may be used. The pivoted shackle g of the padlock shown in Fig. 1 is notched at k to facilitate closure when it has been passed through the staple h.
