15,961. Marks, E. C. R., [Landers, Frary, & Clark]. July 8. Resistances.-The windings of heating-resistances in a toaster or the like are greater in number at the lower part than at the upper part. As shown, the heaters are three rectangular flat cores arranged one above the other, and with windings on the lowest core closer than those on the others. The cores are of mica stiffened by metal plates, and their ends are seated in grooves in side plates 15, which are secured to upturned flanges on a platform 10. In a modification, the cores are arranged vertically, and the wire is wound more closely at the lower than at the upper ends.
