6198. Best, A. March 12. Polishing - machines. A combined floor scrubbing, mopping, and polishing machine, of the type in which the wheels of a hand carriage supporting a tank drive a reciprocating water - fed brush connected to the tank, and also an endless mopping- belt provided with wringing - means and mounted on a trail frame, is fitted with a special construction of trail frame which is utilized also to carrv inclined squeegees to direct the liquid into the path of the mopping-belt. Fig. 4 shows the machine, comprising superposed tanks 45, 46 and a reciprocating brush detachably connected by pivoted yokes to a perforated holder 16. The holder is connected to vertical links 27 reciprocated by gearing from the carriage wheels, and to the lower tank by a pipe 51. The trail frame comprises horizontal members 55 spaced by crossed rods or bolts which carry supporting- wheels 62 and guide-rollers for the endless belt. The horizontal members are connected to the carriage by front and rear bracing-arms 59, 60, the former of which carry the adjustable inclined squeegees 81. The floor-contacting portion of the belt passes from the members 55 around guide-rollers 67 into the upper tank, and thence to driving and wringing rollers 76, the lower of which is geared to the carriage wheels.
