Abstract
4206. Haslam, W. H. Feb. 20. Book-holders; leaf-holders.-A book-holder is formed with a channelled portion a', suitable for grasping in the hand, and connecting side parts a<2>, a<3>. A tubular part h may be formed at the back of the holder to receive a handle g, which may be held by friction or by a peg passing through holes in the handle and the channelled part a<1>. A tape k may be passed through the tube h to form a loop and is held in position by the handle g, the coiled or enlarged ends k<2> preventing the withdrawal of the tape. In order to retain a book in-position on the holder, brackets f, Fig. 5, having upward projections f<1> are employed, or book ledges f, Fig. 9, in conjunction with fingers m engaging nuts m<1> and adapted to be inserted in holes m<2>. A staymember n with a cross-piece o may be hinged by a locking-pivot n<1> to the holder so as to adapt it for use on a table &c., or the part h may be so formed as to engage a chair back.
