[Cognate Applications, 9754/12 and 15,436/12.] Feed - water, heating. - A pump d delivers through a heater a to the boiler, drawing its supply from a secondary heater b, heated by the excess steam that passes over when a predetermined pressure is reached in the primary heater. If the water in the secondary heater has attained a maximum temperature, the excess steam passes to a condenser c of the atmosphere. If the normal supply of exhaust steam is insufficient to raise the temperature of the feed-water to the desired limit in the primary heater, a thermal regulator or steampressure regulator automatically may admit a supply of supplementary steam through the pipe 6 from a separate source.
