Abstract

422. Lake, H. W., [Read & Morrill]. Jan. 5. Moulding walls, partitions, columns, silos, floors, &c in situ.-Moulds for walls, partitions, silo-towers, columns, floors, &c. are formed of main panels 1, with perforated flanges and corner panels 1<a>, 1<x>, 13, which are adjustable for walls of different length and thickness. The mould panels are cut away at the corners, and are spaced apart by distance-pieces 5 on perforated bars 2, which pass through the apertures at the corners of the panels and are secured by wedges 7. The panels 1<a>, 1<x> have perforated flanges and two or more rows of perforations 9 in their faces, arranged either in parallel or staggered relationship, and of such pitch as to give the required range of adjustment. The panels 13 are of angle shape, with slotted ends to receive the bars 2, and with perforations 14, 20, adjacent panels being connected together by perforated angle - bars 15. The outside corners of the moulds are formed of two of the panels 1<a>, or panels 1<a>, 1<x>, the panels 1<x> being smaller than the panels 1<a>, connected together, with the flange of one abutting against the face of the other, by loops or staples 11, passed through registering holes, and wedges 12. The inside corners of the moulds are formed of the panels 13, 1<a>, connected together by the staples 11, passed through registering holes, and by the wedges 12. The flanges of the panels are secured together by the staples 11 or 24 and wedges 12. The panels are connected together, so that one can be raised above the other, by bars 8 pivoted to brackets on staples 34 inserted in slots in the panels, and secured by wedges. Floor moulds are connected to the wall moulds by the angle panels 13, and are supported on T-rails on uprights. Moulds for walls meeting at angles other than a right-angle have the inner corner panels bent at the required angle and the outer corner panels secured by any suitable means, such as wiring the panels together. Bars with ornamental heads may be inserted between the flanges of the mould panels, to form grooves in the finished wall, and the spaces between the cut-away corners of the panels may be filled by blocks with ornamental faces. Moulds for columns are formed of panels 1<a>, and moulds for silo-towers are formed of outer panels 1, and inner panels bent to the required curvature, with spacing-bars 5 and tie-bars 2.
