[Cognate Application, 16,417/12.] [Addition to 8038/11.] Sights.-Consists in means for facilitating aiming at a point a fixed distance below the base of the target in accordance with the method of sighting described in the parent Specification, the said means comprising pairs of cross-wires or marks, movable in a plane transverse to the line of sight, between one pair of which wires or marks the target is callipered, while the distances between the other pairs are simultaneously adjusted in a corresponding degree. A cross-section of one construction is shown in Fig. 2, applied to a sighting-telescope. Four cross-wires A, B, B<1>, B<2> are arranged in the focal plane of the telescope; of these, the wire A is fixed, but the wires B, B<1>, and B<2> are carried respectively by adjustable members C<2>, C<1>, C, which are connected at F, F<1>, F<2> to an arm E pivoted at E<1>. The arm is pressed downwards by a screw G against the pressure of a spring K, so that the spacing between the pairs of cross-wires is varied without altering the ratio between the spaces. A scale is thus obtained which enables the line of sight to be depressed by the desired amount. The means for adjusting the distances between the wires or marks may be varied, and used in sighting-telescopes or otherwise.
