Abstract

Machines for making.-In machines for making ropes, cables, cords, &c. in layers, each of two or more co-axially grouped bobbin-carrying frames moves with its own laying-plate and is rotated in either direction by gearing independent of that of the other frames; the laying- plates are also grouped and the bobbins individually rotatable. Fig. 1 shows a machine with two bobbin frames. Rings c on a shaft a bored for the passage of a core a<1> provide a frame for bobbin supports t that are individually rotatable by means of cranks e and an eccentric ring f. The shaft is driven by a gear b. A second bobbin frame is composed of co-axially mounted rings c', between which and the rings c rollers g are interposed. The lefthand ring c<1> is toothed to gear with a driving- gear h<1>. The bobbin supports are arranged for individual rotation similarly to the supports t. The laying-plates l, l<1> are carried by the shaft a and ring c<1> respectively. Stationary stranding-dies or tubes k, k<1> are provided. A modification is described in which three separate bobbin frames and their laying-plates are carried by concentric shafts. The laying-plates may be arranged in one plane.
