Abstract

24,236. Marks, E. C. R., [Lucas Machine Co.]. Nov. 1. Band apparatus.-A machine for sandpapering plain or curved surfaces, of the kind having an endless abrading - belt running on spaced pulleys, is provided with means for automatically adjusting the tension of the belt and for manually pressing the belt into contact with the work. The work is mounted on a table 33 movable on guides 31 under the abrading-belt 36. The belt is driven from a pulley 38 and passes over a pulley 39 carried in a swing frame 44 weighted to tension the belt and angularly adjustable to aline the belt. A presser block 78 to press the belt into contact with the work is vertically movable by a lever 69 in a frame 59 slidable along guides 57, 58. A jockey pulley 85 is provided to guide the belt over the presser-block.
