Abstract
23,364. Michelin et Cie (Soc. en Commandite par actions). Oct. 27, 1910, [Convention date]. Springs, arrangement of.-Consists in combining with the usual suspension spring a compensating-spring, which acts upon the axle so that the algebraic sum of the reactions of the two springs remain approximately constant. Fig. 1 shows the usual laminated suspension spring a connected by a rope b with a pulley c carrying a cam e over which passes a rope f connected with the vehicle frame d through the compensating-spring g. The action of the cam e is such that the compensating-spring g exerts upon the axle a force which is equal and opposite to the variation in resistance of the suspension spring a. The compensating-force may act downwards by means of a thrust through hydraulic mechanism as described in Specification 23,382/11.
