Abstract

20,719. Scammell, B. Sept. 19. Rotary apparatus, internally illuminated; rotary cylinder, prism, and like apparatus.- A railway destination-indicator comprises an internally or externally illuminated polygonal drum, rotatably and slidably mounted in elongated bearings so that the indications can be brought close up to the display-opening of the casing, and, when the drum is rotated to change the indication, the spindle travels in the bearings to and from the display opening. The drum spindle rotates in bearings between antifriction rollers 118 and a non-rotatable hollow or solid shaft 112, which is held in elongated bearings 117 by means of pins 120, along which the drum, when it rotates, travels backwards and forwards under the influence of a cam-surface 123 &c., against which it impinges. A plate 127, Fig. 2, bearing routeinformation, may be held by suitable clips, such as a clip 128, attached to the casing by a thumb-screw 129 and co-operating with a strip of rubber &c. 131 to hold the plate in position. For internal illumination, the lamps may be held upon fixed shafts 112.
