Abstract

17,241. Lamb, J. M. July 28. Wheel - driving attachments. - In a detachable wheel for motor-cycles, tri-cars, &c., of the kind in which the wheel can be removed with its bearings from between the stay or fork members, a side extension carrying the sprocketwheel or the like being left in position within the frame, the sleeve e disposed within the hub barrel a is provided at one end with a flange or ring-piece f, which forms one part of the bearing between the sleeve and the hub and abuts against a flange or ring-piece l at the inner end of a sleeve k within the extension a', both sleeves e, k being provided at their opposite ends with adjustable parts h, m of bearings. As shown, the hub is also provided with an extension at its left-hand end to carry a belt pulley, brake drum, or the like. A dog clutch s, t effects the connexion between the hub and each extension, and a central bolt or axle c with nuts v, w secures the parts in position. When removed from between the back-stays the wheel may be fitted between the members of the front fork. According to the Provisional Specification (1) there are race members screwed into the hub barrel, (2) the axle is unscrewed by a handle provided at one end, and (3) when two extensions are used an additional flange is provided at the left end of the sleeve within the hub.
