Abstract

14,216. Weede, H. M. van. June 15. Hydroplane vessels.-The hulls are composed of an elongated arch A, the crown of which is inclined downwards from bow to stern, and the sides of which are provided with lateral planes B. When moving forward, the tendency of the air beneath the arch is to raise the vessel out of the water. A main keel C is fitted centrally to the arch A, and includes a bearing 15 for the shaft 16 of the propeller D. Supplementary keels 17 are also fitted. A rudder F is fitted as shown, and is connected to the steering-wheel G. Horizontal fins H are provided whereby the head of the vessel may be raised or depressed. Air-tubes are also fitted to increase the buoyancy.
