Abstract
9715. Eigen, O. April 21. Eyes and loops.-A rope loop connexion is constructed so that the rope end is attached to the thimble instead of as usual to the main rope. The thimble 1 is provided with an extension 2, which may be in one with, or connected by, a screw spindle to the thimble. The rope 7 is guided by pieces 8 and a roller 3, and its end 5 is clamped to the thimble 1 and its extension. A clamp 15 cooperating with the roller 3 serves to draw the main rope through the guide so that the end 5 may be drawn up to form a new connexion. This adjustment may be effected by a lifting - device 12 clamped at 13 to the main rope above the rope end. The suspending-device for the load may be arranged at one side of the loop connexion so that the point of attachment of the load is in line with the main rope. The point of suspension of the load may be adjusted by the screw spindle 4, which co-operates with a nut on the extension 2. Modifications are described in which this spindle may have a rocking and not an axial movement, or may have both a rocking and an axial movement. The roller may be dispensed with, a groove in the lower member taking its place. Also the point of suspension of the load may be adjusted in any of a row of holes in a web formed in the middle of the thimble.
