Stationary-vessel washing-apparatus. - In a sand-washing machine, sand and water are supplied through a pipe k to a compartment b supported within a vessel a, and the sand is subjected to the action of revolving waternozzles d, e and blades g of the kind described in Specification 25,881/08, [Class 46, Filtering &c.], water being supplied to the nozzles d through pipes j<1>, j<2> and to the lower part of the vessel a through a pipe j<3>. The washed sand passes out with some water through a valved outlet a<3>, while floating impurities and the remainder of the water overflow into an annular channel a<2>. In some cases, the blades g may be dispensed with; or the nozzles e may be replaced by a rose placed above the outlet a<3>.
