6250. Arndt, O. March 13. Centering for floors and ceilings; staging, suspended.- A trussed centering for floors and ceilings is suspended from the floor girders or the walls, and is constructed of a middle portion 1 consisting of two angle-irons, and two end portions 2, each consisting of two angle-irons, sliding within the middle portion, the three portions being connected to a bar 6 by adjustable struts 4, 7 and ties 3, 5 respectively. The centering is suspended from the floor girders by hooks 12, having perforated shanks to receive pins engaging sleeves 14 sliding on, and embracing, the end portions 2. The hooks are secured on the girder flanges by forks 17 having clamps 19 engaging the girder flanges. The strut 4 for the middle portion is provided with a screw-threaded part 25 carrying a wing- nut to engage a stirrup on the angle-irons. The struts 7 for the end portions are provided with screw - threaded parts secured to the angle-irons and carrying wing nuts engaging stirrups, which are provided with plates engaging and clamping the ends of the angle - irons of the middle and end parts. The staging can be used for decorating or repairing ceilings by suspending it from drop hangers 20, having upper clamping - jaws 21 engaging the floor girders, and the lower ends 22 forked and perforated to receive pins for engaging the sliding sleeves 14. In a modification, the centering is constructed to allow bending due to load being corrected. The end parts slide between guiding plates riveted to the middle part, the struts 4, 7 are provided with screw adjustable upper parts 27<1>, and the ties 3' are formed with slots at the lower ends engaging a pin. The struts are connected together by a bar having hinged portions 30 with slots 38, through which the shouldered ends of the struts 7 pass and are secured by pins. The ties 5 are slotted at the lower ends to engage over the shouldered ends of the struts. The centering may be suspended from the girders or walls by hooks 43 with perforated shanks to receive pins engaging sliding sleeves 47 connected to the end portions by screw pins 45.
