Abstract

4491. Kent, G. P., and Mitchell, A. R. Feb. 22. Brackets, electric-lamp.-A lazy-tongs bracket for supporting electric lamps has one of its inner arms pivotally mounted in a ring 15 which is rotatably mounted on a tube 4 secured to the ceiling, and the other inner arm pivotally mounted in a ring 20 secured to the tube 19 which is rotatably and telescopically mounted on the tube 4. A cap 23, provided with a ring 24, closes the bottom of the tube 19, and is connected to an operating chain or cord 7. The tube 19 is provided with a slot containing a strip 28 which can be forced inwards against the tube 4 by set-screws 30 mounted in bridges 29. The bracket is built up of members 5 as shown in Fig. 2. In a modification for use as a desk lamp, one of the inner arms is provided with a roller which bears against a pillar in which the other arm is pivotally mounted.
