4294. Hoyle, E. Feb. 20. Wheels and axles, arrangement of. - A vehicle for the removal of house refuse, having two sets of wheels to enable it to run on the road or on tramways, has each pair of axles mounted on a triangular frame pivoted beneath the vehicles so that by swinging the frame one or other set of wheels can be brought into action. The triangular frames 1 are pivoted in brackets beneath the vehicle frame and are provided with stops 31 to limit their swing. Each road-wheel axle 8, which is non-rotary, is connected by a yoke 7 to a screwed block 9 through which a screw 10 passes. The screw has thrust collars 12, which may have ball bearings, on each side of a block 13 pivoted to the frame. A turn-plate 15 may be provided at one or both ends.
