Abstract

Trolly heads.-In collectors for electricity of the kind in which the harp is mounted to have independent lateral motion, the harp is carried and controlled by a combined flat and helical spring and is constrained by guides or levers. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the harp 18 is mounted on a flat spring 15 surrounded by a helical spring 17, and is free to move transversely between the guides 6, 6<a> carried by the bracket 5. A guard 19 is mounted at the front of the trolly head. In one arrangement, pins on the harp engage curved slots 23, Fig. 6, in the guides 6, 6<a>. Fig. 6 shows a modification in which the curvature of the slots is increased as shown at 25, thus causing the harp to return to normal position with greater force. Fig. 7 shows another modification in which the guides are replaced by levers 29, 30 pivoted at 32 to the trolly boom.
