Capsules, applying.- Relates to a machine with special means for feeding bottles from a filling-machine to one or two capsuling - heads, and with means for synchronizing the feed with the capsuling operation. Specification 9368/10 describes other parts of the machine. A bottle - carrier 2, Fig. 1 (upper part), of a filling or like machine is driven from a capsuling - machine by a belt B, and delivers bottles to a runway 3, 4 beneath which is a belt conveyer which carries the bottles to a table 2, where they are engaged by a pivoted arm 10. This arm oscillates and distributes the bottles alternately right and left to plungers 7 beneath the capsuling-heads. The arm is pivoted at 9, Fig. 3, and is given slow initial and final movements by a pin 10, which passes through a table 2 and engages a slot 12 in a cam 13 on a shaft 14<a>, Fig. 1. The end 19 of the arm is pivoted at 18, Fig. 3, and at 10<b>, so that, if an obstruction is encountered, the arm gives way vertically against gravity or horizontally against the action of a spring 15. In order to ensure the delivery of bottles in timed relation with the distributing arm, a pair of arms 23, Fig. 6, are placed in the bottle runway 4 and are closed and opened to allow bottles to pass by spring levers 25, 26 operated by crank-pins on a shaft 28 in gear with wheels 30, 31, &c. connected with the shaft 14<a>, Fig. 1. If a bottle is caught between points 24 of the arms 23, springs in the levers 25, 26 give way and breakage is avoided.
