Abstract

28,536. Ruthenburg, M. Dec. 8. Electrode furnaces.-Electrodes are arranged and connected so as to distribute polyphase currents evenly throughout a molten charge, each electrode forming a member of several groups. Two or three rows of electrodes may be arranged as shown in plan, the numbers indicating the phases. Alternatively, the rows may be concentric circles. The furnace is preferably one in which heat is produced by the charge acting as a resistor.
