Movable - abutment type; packing drums etc.; driving pumps.- A Roots' - blower type of pump, applicable for lubricating machine tools and for other purposes, is guarded against leakage by mounting the pump gear - wheels c, d on shafts entering bearings in, but not projecting through, the walls of the casing. The driving is effected by a third gear-wheel e placed on the inlet side of the pump and protected from the incoming liquid by a shield a<4>. The shaft carrying this wheel projects through a stuffing-box, and is driven by a pulley.
