Metal pipes and tubes.-Steel pipes &c. are made of sections connected together by bolts, and layers or strips of hard compressed asphaltic felt or like substance are employed as jointing- material. Pipe sections, as shown in Fig. 1, have the joint-making material 7 placed between the sections and as washers 9 under the bolt heads. Specification 22,900/01, [Class 83, Metals, Cutting &c.], is referred to.
