22,594. Curtiss & Harvey, and Smith, C. L. W. Sept. 29. Blasting-fuses. - Relates to electric detonators, for submarine work, comprising wires c, a paper tube a containing the igniting- composition, and a tube b containing the detonating-composition and secured by crimping at b<1> and made water-proof by the application of a suitable cement. Of s u c h cements, it is found that hard cements are brittle, and plastic cements are sticky. To remove these objections, the invention provides a metal cap d which is in close contact with the wires c at f, and is pressed over the tube a up to the shoulder e after the application of the cement g ; any excess of cement is squeezed out at f, or at the lower edge of the cap around the tube b.
