Abstract

21,331. Luce, C. E. Sept. 13. Teeth, artificial. - Dentures are made with the teeth placed to suit the particular masticatory movements of the individual, the teeth being set up in an articulator in which these particular movements are reproduced. After jaw moulds k, i and temporary plates l, m have been made in the usual manner, the plates, and preferably a bite-plate n, are inserted in the mouth, and a straight bite and masticatory movements made, so that the teeth or projections p make certain markings q in the biteplate. The moulds k, i, and plates l, m, n are then set up in an articulator, in which the arms a, b are connected by an easily removable hinge-pin c, and the arm a is provided with cups d, e containing plastic material, the arm b having an adjustable pin g and fixed pins f. When the arm b is turned on to the arm a, the hinge-pin c removed, and the hinge-supporting members h turned down, the masticatory movements are reproduced by moving the upper arm over the lower with the projections p following the recesses q, so that tracings r, s are made in the plaster in the cups d, e, from which, when the plaster is set, the masticatory movements can be reproduced. The plate n is then removed, and the teeth are set up and adjusted to suit the masticatory movements.
