Abstract

Roundabouts.-In an amusement device, cars travel erratically over the surface of a number of platforms revolving in various directions and at the same or different speeds. The cars o are circular in plan and are mounted on castors. A number of small platforms a are arranged in recesses in a fixed floor b, and two annular platforms d, e surround the floor b. When the platforms are rotated, the cars are carried round by the platform c and are deflected on to the platforms a by means of a pivoted gate i and fixed projections p. The cars are continually driven outwards but are returned each time to the central platforms. By turning the gate i to the position shown in dotted lines, the cars are guided on to the platform e and are retained by barriers m, which can be placed across the annulus e,
