Abstract

Tread bands, projections, and surfaces. - A non-skid protective band for pneumatic tyres, which is secured thereon by inflation, comprises roughened metal plates 4, having oppositelybevelled overlapping edges 6, which are connected together by two endless wire ropes 23 passing through corrugated channels in sheetmetal plates 14, 24 bolted to them and holding, by flanges 21 and toothed edges 18, 28, rubber or like blocks 30 bearing on the tyre. The plates 4 have inwardly-projecting sides 5 bearing against the sides 15 of the sheet-metal plates 14, which secure in position rubber studs 12 projecting from rubber bases through holes in the plates 4. The plates 4, as well as the rubber or like blocks 30, are not in contact, so that the tyre tread is well ventilated.
