Abstract

Marking w o r k for sewing. - Relates to a cutting- out die for boot uppers &c. which is provided with a marking - blade adapted to indicate on the work as it is cut the position of stitching-lines, amount of overlap, &c., and consists especially in the mounting of the marking-blade so as to allow its adjustment towards and from one of the sides of the die, and also angularly within the die. A doubleedged die is shown in Fig. 2, and is provided with two marking-blades 30, 32 connected by resilient loops 34 with rubber insertions 36. The extremities of the blades and other convenient portions such as 45 are engaged through a pin-and-slot connexion with blocks 44. This connexion may be that of a bayonet-joint and a hand-lever device 65, 66, Fig. 5, may be used to compress the marking - blades to facilitate their removal from the blocks 44. The blocks 44, Fig. 1, may be independently adjustable on the die for the purpose of varying the distance from and inclination to the edge of the die of the line of stitching &c. The indenting-blade may have a serrated edge.
