Abstract

Spinning, doubling, and twisting machines with twisting-arrangements at delivery; tension arrangements.-Two-fold or other doubled yarns are simultaneously twisted and cross-wound upon conical pirns or bobbins for gassing &c., thus dispensing with the usual intermediate winding process. The yarns led from delivery twisting-spindles such as are described in Specification 24,407/08, are delivered at a constant speed by rollers b and cross-wound on a pirn d in the usual manner. The amount delivered by the rollers b is that which would be wound on the mean diameter of the pirn and a compensating-device i is provided which takes up the excess yarn delivered when winding is taking place from the mean to the smallest diameter of the pirn, and delivers the same when winding is taking place from the mean to the greatest diameter of the pirn. The device i consists of a thread eye i<5> carried by an adjustably weighted lever i<2> pivoted at i<1>, the yarn passing from the rollers b around any suitable arrangement of guide-eyes to the eye i<5> and then to the pivoted reciprocating guide g which lays the yarn on the pirn. In a modification, the eye i<5> is carried by an adjustably weighted bar slidably mounted on a rod and counterbalanced by an adjustable weight.
