10,256. Dransfield, E., and Rigby, W. April 27. Ventilating-shaft tops. -Relates to tops of the kind having an upper chamber from which the foul air escapes to the atmosphere in a downward direction. In the shaft top shown in Fig. 2, foul air passes from the chamber a to the upper chamber b by way of short vertical tubes c and is caused to pass out of the aperture d on to the flat roof of the chamber a by the wind blowing in the space between the chambers. In a modification, square tubes are arranged at the corners of a shaft top, and the foul air is exhausted into corresponding superimposed chambers arranged in the central portion of the top.
