Rollers and roller heads; roving-guides.-Relates to traversing sliver guides of the kind that are placed between the rollers of a drawing or other preparing frame, and by which the fibres, spread out over several inches at the feed-rollers. are gradually consolidated and reduced to the dimensions of a sliver or rove at the delivery rollers. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2, a bar B bolted to the traverse bar D and extending beneath the rollers carries the guides A; or a number of bars carrying guides and bolted to the traverse bar may be placed beneath the roller bosses. In another construction, the guides are carried by cross-arms secured to bars arranged between the top and bottom rollers and bolted to the traverse rail, the bars being placed in the spaces between the necks of the .rollers or in the spaces between the roller ends over the roller stands and under the cap bars. In any of the above constructions, the bars carrying the guides may be pivoted to a fixed bar and to a bar extending from the traverse rail, so that they oscillate beneath the rollers, the front end having a greater traverse than the back end. The sliver guides are level with the nip of the rollers and are preferably shaped to extend backwards and forwards as close to the rollers as possible, the width of the back of one guide being equal to that of the front of the immediately preceding one. According to the Provisional Specification, the sliver guides may be in the form of tapering funnels.
