Abstract

6041. Testrup, N. March 10. Drawings to Specification. Peat, preparing.-A regenerative wet-carbonizing process for carbonizing wet peat of the kind described in Specification 10,834/03 is modified by heating the material initially to about 180‹ C., in order that the heat that is then generated by a reaction in the mass, and which raises the temperature by about 20‹, may serve wholly or partly to complete the carbonization. Peat direct from a bog, containing 90 per cent of water, may be carbonized in about ten minutes, and can then be dried by pressure.
