Abstract

4221. Adams, S. H. Feb. 21. Inspection openings, closures for.-Relates to frames for manhole covers, gully grates, &c. of the kind in which pockets are formed in an outwardly and downwardly curved upper surface in order to key the road material around the frame, and consists in forming the pockets without overhanging flanges. According to one construction, Fig. 1, recesses b are formed between ribs c in the upper curved surface a. Figs. 2 and 4 show a modification of the curvature of the surface a with two forms of the recesses b. Fig. 3 shows a further modification in which stepped radial flanges h are formed on the surface a. Specifications 17,745/04, 666/05, and 1130/07 are referred to.
