Abstract

1894. Hosie, J. Jan. 25. N a i l s. - T h e nails for securing boxes, cases, &c. have each a perforation b<1>, Fig. 1, through which a wire or other flexible body is passed. On driving-in the nail, the wire c is drawn down into the wood as shown in Fig. 4, and the box cannot be opened without breaking the wire. Nails of this kind may be used for other purposes where a wire is to be secured, such as fixing wire for fencing. The nails may be with or without heads.
