Abstract

1427. Porter, R. G. Jan. 19. Gravity bucket elevators; discharging and feeding devices; shoots.-Apparatus for conveying bottles and delivering them mouth upwards at any desired spot comprises an endless chain c provided at intervals on one or both sides with projecting arms d from which receptacles f for carrying the bottles are pivotally suspended by links e. Each receptacle carries pins h adapted to engage guides j on the descending run, whereby the receptacle is turned on its pivots to discharge the bottle neck foremost down a shoot k. The shoot terminates in a spring - controlled pivoted tipping-device l, which delivers the bottle, bottom downwards, either on to a table m, or to a travelling band n. In the latter case, the bottle is retained upright by falling between the radiating arms of a turnstile device m<1> and a fixed guide s. The device m<1> is mounted to rotate freely in one direction under the pressure imparted by the bottle travelling along the belt. The tipping-device l terminates in a buffer q, which may be adjusted by a screw to the length of the bottle. When the bottles are carried on both sides of the chain, an additional shoot k<1> and delivery devices are provided.
