Abstract
24,868. Gibb, G., and Mavor, S. M. Oct. 29. Conveying from working face of mines.-The transporter carriage for use in mines, described in Specification 19,327/05, is employed in combination with a device for elevating the contents of the carriage into the corves in those places where the working-face way is level with the haulage road. The elevating-device comprises a wheeled frame D carrying an endless band. scraper, &c., and having a foot D<1> for receiving the discharge from the transporter carriage C and a head D<2> beneath which the corves E are run. The haulage and the discharge of the carriage C and the operation of the elevating- device D are effected from an endless cable H actuated by a motor F located in the haulage road. The elevating-device is operated from a pulley K, round which the cable H is passed. This pulley may be mounted so as tq run freely during the out-haul of the carriage, or to be clutched to its shaft by the arrival of the carriage upon the discharging-ways S, Fig. 4. This is effected by causing the carriage to engage a lever M acting through a spring N upon the clutch-rod R.
