Abstract
17,271. Filbert, J. H. July 24. Fats and fatty oils, flavoured. The essence, odour, or flavour of " crackling " obtained in the rendering of animal fat or other animal tissue is imparted to cotton-seed or other vegetable oil, or food compounds thereof, such as lard substitutes, to prevent the development of an objectionable odour upon heating. The oil &c. may be mixed with the tissue, heated if necessary, and separated therefrom; or an extract may be obtained by heating the tissue with the oil and pressing the mixture, the liquid being then added to the main portion of the oil &c.
