Incandescent gas burners.-A regenerative device for the air-supply to inverted incandescent gas lamps comprises two superimposed chambers 2, 3, through which the mixing-tube 4 passes, separated by a heat-conducting partition 6. Air passes through gauze-covered openings 11 in the upper chamber 2 to the air-inlets 10 of the tube 4. The products of combustion pass through an opening 5<a> in the lower plate of the chamber 3 and leave this chamber through apertures 12 arranged on the opposite side of the lamp to, or disposed between, the air-inlets 11. In the construction shown, the plate 6 is integral with the chamber 3, and the mixing-tube is made in two parts screwed together, the upper part serving to clamp the chamber 2 on the chamber 3. The joint between the plate 6 and the mixing-tube is made gas-tight by means of asbestos washers 8. Series of apertures x, y weaken the explosion on lighting the lamp when a globe is used. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 21,459/05, 5714/06, and 15,776/07.
