Mattresses.-Spring mattresses are formed by a number of zigzag or wave-like wire spring crossmembers with supporting U-shaped springs around the border of the mattress. The surface of the mattress shown in Figs. 1 and 2 comprises a number of zigzagged wires a arranged transversely on a frame b and attached thereto by U-shaped springs c and connecting-links d. The end of each wire a is bent to pass through a link d in two places in order to obtain a good connexion, and the springs are formed with a number of turns at the bends.
