Abstract

14,956. Gillberg, P. F. June 26. Vaporizing-apparatus. - The valves of vapour burners are normally closed, and are opened to admit the combustible liquid to the burner only when the latter has been heated sufficiently to vaporize the liquid. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the chamber 4 contains liquid or gas, which expands when the burner is heated by the preliminary heating-device and lifts the diaphragm 6. This diaphragm is secured to the valve - rod 2, and consequently serves to open the supply valve 1. A diaphragm 5 prevents escape of the combustible liquid from the valve chamber. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the combustible material enters at 8, passes through an axial hole in the valve 1, raises the valve-cap 10, and issues by the passage 12 into the chamber 4. By the preliminary heating of the apparatus, pressure is generated which closes the valve-cap 4 and depresses the diaphragm 6 so as to open the supply valve 1 and admit the combustible liquid through the pipe 13 to the burner.
