Cooking-stoves.-A collapsible camp-stove consists of side and end walls hinged to a top plate or cover and fitted upon a tray, which, when the stove is packed up, forms a box or holder for it. Fig. 2 shows a stove consisting of side walls C and end walls D hinged to a top plate E, which is stiffened by T-irons, and has apertures with pivoted covers G, and another aperture, remote from the door I, fitted with a telescopic chimney H. The walls are fitted in a base or tray A, consisting of a base plate with three upturned sides. Angle-pieces at the corners of the tray, or rods stretching across the stove, prevent the walls C, D from collapsing when in use. To pack up the stove, the side walls C, and then the end plates, are closed upon the underside of the plate E, and all are placed in the tray A and secured by the metal straps or bands 0, which are shown in Fig. 2, serving as the feet of the stove. In the modification shown in Fig. 6, the stove has an oven P made similarly of folding plates and protected by a plate Q hinged or otherwise attached to the tray A. The door I is in one of the side walls, and a damper R is on the top of the oven. The walls C, D are connected to the edges of the tray A by a channel-iron N. Fig. 8 shows a stove with a cylindrical oven which slides into an expansion in the flue T. The stoves may be heated by wood, coal, &c., or by oil, spirits, &c.
