Lids and covers.-To facilitate the opening of tins, canisters, &c. for tooth-powder, blacking, or other substances, they are formed with the upper edge a of the body portion b outwardly expanded or enlarged, the flange e of the lid d being correspondingly shaped. Either part may be furnished with a circumferential bead for stiffening purposes. Pressure applied at one or more points around the expanded portion causes the lid to be loosened readily.
