Abstract

8310. MeDonagh, J. A., and Reynolds, J. H. Aug. 31, 1908, [Convention date]. Railways for recreation.-The structure of a gravity railway is made to represent a tree, and cars in the shape of a squirrel run on a spiral track within the branches and around the trunk. The car passes into the trunk 1, Fig. 2, through an opening 1<r>, and the wheels engage in a double inclined track 7. A projection on the front of the car is engaged by a lug on an endless conveyer 25 and is lifted to the top of the track, the shape of the track maintaining the car in an horizontal position. The car is discharged by the conveyer on to a spiral track 4, which winds spirally around the trunk 1. The upper part of the trunk is surrounded by scenery 2<a> representing foliage, and the part of the track encircling the lower part of the trunk is covered by other scenery 5 representing a vine. The cars may pass through tunnels 27, in which scenery 28 is exhibited, and may pass into the interior of the trunk through openings such as 1<n>.
