Abstract

362. Holebouse, W., and Crosthwaite, G. D. Jan. 7. Cooling-towers for cooling the condensation water &c. from steam-engines. The bearers d for the drip - bars f are supported by uprights consisting of two flat boards a, b, separated by distance-pieces c but held in position by wooden pegs c<1>. The drip-bars are provided at each end with a tenon having angles as shown in Fig. 10, which fit circular apertures in the bearers and are secured therein by wooden wedges g. Pins h may also pass through' the tenons and the wedges, or through the tenons alone. The bearers d may be formed in one or more parts. Drip-bars of various crosssections are employed.
