Abstract

15,188. Improved Periscope, Ltd., and Aldis, A. C. W. July 17. Periscopes; surveying- instruments. - In apparatus used in submarines &c., or for photographic surveying, the lens mirror is hyperboloidal or the equivalent, the refracting-surfaces being spherical &c. In the mirror shown in Fig. 2, the surfaces A C, B C are circular in section and the section A B of the toric reflecting-surface is also circular, being part of the circle of closest contact to the corresponding hyperbola. A pair of objective lenses h, i with an interposed objective are used in the periscope tube. Interchangeable high and low power eyepieces are provided, and by the use of a suitable scale the positions of objects sighted can be approximately ascertained.
