Abstract
12,118. Bale, P. I. June 4. Forced ventilation.-Relates to apparatus of the type in which dust is separated from air by highpressure water jets arranged at the head of a cylindrical chamber and in which the purified air rises through a series of water-disentangling diaphragms arranged in a jacket surrounding the chamber. A pipe A is mounted centrally of a jacket B by means of a removable cover D and the inwardly-inclined extensions of feet C. Highpressure water is supplied through a pipe H, furnished wich a strainer, to an apertured ring or involute F. The water jets induce an air current along a trunk X. The washed and cooled air is freed from excess moisture in ascending through a nest of inclined wire-gauze strainers M' .. M<5>, arranged in the annular space between the tube A and the jacket B. Distance-pieces N' ... N<3> which space the strainers serve also as handles to facilitate ready removal. The water and dust are carried off by a drain-pipe K. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the tube A is surmounted by a grid Q for wool sorting, a central jet R of disinfecting- fluid being provided.
