Variable-speed gearing.-In a change-speed gear, more particularly for cycles and the like, of the type in which the planet-pinion carrier B is adapted to be locked to the internally-toothed driving-ring A to give the direct drive, a freely-rotatable ring H, mounted upon the sliding clutch-piece G of the sun-pinion D, carries pegs J, which, passing through the carrier, are adapted to engage projections or recesses A<2> upon the driving-member. For changing the gear, a cable N attached to a bracket 0 passes round a roller M at the end of a sliding rod L, so that a pull upon the cable causes a longitudinal movement of the rod, bringing the clutch-piece G into engagement with a fixed clutchpiece F. A spring P returns the sun-pinion to its right-hand position. As shown, the pegs J pass through hollow bosses B<1> forming the planetpinion spindles.
